Draft municipal regulation on establishment and structuring of the Municipal Children’s Assembly reviewed

The Political and Finance Committees of the municipalities of Pejë, Gjakovë, Klinë, Mitrovicë and Ferizaj reviewed a draft municipal regulation on establishment and structuring of Municipal Children’s Assembly and it was approved for processing in the respective Municipal Assemblies.

This regulation will be a point of agenda for discussion and approval at regular meetings of municipal assemblies set to be held in the last week of February. Then it will be put to public discussion. According to legal procedures, after the public discussion, the regulation in question will be sent back to the next Municipal Assembly meetings, which will be held in the last week of March and be approved.

Pejë, Gjakovë, Klinë, Mitrovicë and Ferizaj will be the first municipalities in Kosovo to adopt such a regulation, giving the Municipal Children’s Assembly a legal ground and consequently oblige the municipal institutions to support this structure of children’s organization at the municipal level.

Such regulations will also be processed in the municipalities of Prishtinë, Prizren and Gjilan.

The Regulation on establishment and structuring of the Municipal Children's Assembly is sponsored by Syri i Vizionit organization in partnership with Save the Children, Office in Kosovo, under the thematic program "Our Future Obligation - Child Protection and the Rights of the Child”.

For many years now, Syri i Vizionit in partnership with Save the Children are working on empowering Municipal Children’s Assemblies and institutions to provide professional and quality services for children and governance with their rights with direct participation of children in designing and implementing local and national policies.
