Syri i Vizionit welcomes adoption of the Law on Child Protection

Pejë, June 27 - Syri i Vizionit organization welcomes today’s adoption of the Law on Child Protection, which was passed with 76 votes of Members of the Assembly of Republic of Kosovo.

We, as an organization, have consistently been and are an integral part of the work on protecting children's rights in Kosovo; specifically our organization has assisted the process of drafting and adopting this Law. In co-operation with our strategic partner- Save the Children, Syri i Vizionit has sponsored the Amendment of Prohibition, Punishment and Violence against Children not only in school environments, but also in the family, street, and anywhere else.

Our organization has repeatedly called for and organized many activities for this purpose, among which is the "Grow him/her with love" campaign, which started a year ago and shall continue further.

In the framework of this campaign, the march of the few days ago was held under the motto “Sandals are to wear, not to hit with" where citizens, children, members of civil society and MPs walked from Kosovo Assembly building to " Zahir Pajaziti" square seeking swift adoption of the Law on the Protection of the Rights of the Child.

With the adoption of this Law, our campaign will be intensified even further to ensure implementation of this Law.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all MPs who voted today, especially to the members of the Committee on Human Rights, Gender Equality, Missing Persons and Petitions, for their hard work and pushing forward of today’s adoption of this Law.
