Draft municipal regulations for complaints box at pre-university institutions compiled

November 25-27, Bogë-Pejë: NGO Syri i Vizionit in partnership with Save the Children in Kosovo and in cooperation with Directorates of Education from the municipalities of Gjilan and Klinë, have compiled draft municipal regulations for the complaints box at pre-university institutions in these two municipalities.

The purpose of this regulation is to strengthen student protection mechanisms by addressing concerns or complaints, as well as creating a friendly and safe environment for them in pre-university education institutions in these two municipalities.

Provisions of this regulation define: placement of the boxes, forming a commission for opening the complaints boxes, accepting suggestions, recommendations and comments related to addressing issues in pre-university education institutions based on the applicable legislation.

Following the adoption of this regulation, pre-university education institutions in these two municipalities should handle complaints with understanding and competence and provide responses within the time limit set by this regulation. Complaints, requests, criticisms and other issues addressed through the box will help improvement of these educational institutions.

Working groups created by MEDs in Klinë and Gjilan, composed of the Directorate of Education, Legal Office, representatives of parents, schools and Kosovo Police, took part in compiling the draft regulations.

These draft regulations are expected to be processed by the MEDs before the New Year, in order for them to undergo the adequate procedures for approval by the Municipal Assemblies, and it is believed that they will enter into force before the end of 2019/2020 school year.

NGO Syri i Vizionit in partnership with Save the Children in Kosovo will help these two municipalities not only until their adoption, but also with implementation, thus creating comfortable, friendly and safe environments for children in schools. All this work is being done in the framework of the project “Together for child rights”, which is being implemented for several years in the municipalities of Pejë, Klinë, Gjakovë, Prizren, Prishtinë, Mitrovicë, Gjilan and Ferizaj.
