Position: Professional for psychosocial support – Psychologist
Duration of engagement: 1 year with possibility of extension
Eye of Vision aims to promote local democracy and citizen participation in Kosovo. In the continuous efforts for democratic practices, “Syri i Vizioni” has given a special role to the promotion of good governance, responsibility, transparency and public participation in decision-making.
Syri i Vizioni seeks to employ a professional for psychosocial support – Psychologist, within the project “Support in the integration and empowerment of Roma, Egyptian and Ashkali returnees through Capacity Development in Basic Education, Kosovo”, which is supported by GIZ – Agency German for International Cooperation and is implemented by “Syri i Vizioni. Within this program, the role of a professional (psychologist) is foreseen, who will work with the children in the Supplementary Education classes, which operate near 6 primary schools in the municipalities of Peja, Klina and Istog, and who will deals with the identification of the psychological and social needs of students participating in supplementary education, the treatment and reporting of special cases, as well as the provision of psychosocial support for these students.
Main responsibilities and duties:
– Communicates and cooperates closely with the staff of “Syri i Vizioni”, respectively with the responsible persons of the Supplementary Learning project about the various aspects related to the activity for psychosocial support in 6 classes of supplementary learning;
– Communicates and cooperates closely with the Educators/Tutors who work within the Supplementary Learning classes in the 6 primary schools, in identifying students with psychological and social specifics and needs;
– Communicates and collaborates with the school’s management staff and teachers in the 6 primary schools where Supplementary Education takes place in assessing and reporting the specific psychosocial and educational needs of students in supplementary education.
Specifically, the Psychologist does:
– Identification of the specific psychological and social needs of students who participate in Supplementary Education classes;
– Evaluation and reporting of special cases to school management staff, teachers, guardians and parents;
– Treatment/provision of psychosocial support based on identified needs, in cooperation with educators/tutors and school management staff, guardian teachers and parents;
– Documents identified and treated cases;
– Provides professional advice to educators/tutors, teaching staff regarding the specifics and treatment of special cases;
– Offers professional advice to parents regarding specifics and concrete cases;
– Organizes consultation and listening sessions with teachers, parents and students;
Qualifications and experience:
– University degree in Psychology;
– Knowledge of child development, from the time of birth to the end of adolescence;
– Knowledge in the development of pedagogical subjects;
– Knowledge in working with parents and professional institutions in the field of providing psychosocial and pedagogical services;
– Knowledge in organizing activities and reporting;
– Ability and experience in facilitating groups in order and willingness to offer sessions/counseling with children, parents, teachers, etc.
– Ability in teamwork and self-initiative;
– Written and spoken English, Serbian or Bosnian language preferred;
– Mastery of computer programs (Word, Exel, Power Point, Outlook)
– Not to be convicted or under investigation for criminal offenses;
– Driver’s license, category B.
