Study visit Kosovo-Serbia-Albania on the experiences of citizens’ participation in decision-making

Pozhega, Serbia, July 10/12 – The second study visit in a row was carried out, with the aim of exchanging experiences and best practices, within the program for increasing citizens’ participation in decision-making, promoting active citizenship in the region, including Kosovo, Serbia and Albania. During the study visit to Pozhegw, there were representatives of partner organizations from Kosovo and Albania, representatives of citizen groups and institutions, while the host group was the Sretenje organization with representatives of the local councils of the municipality of Pozege, representatives of local institutions including the Mayor of the Municipality, the vice president and representatives from partner organizations from the municipality of Knjazevac and Pirot.
For three days in a row, the representatives from Kosovo and Albania have held meetings and joint conversations with these groups and representatives to see closely how the citizens engage in fulfilling their demands and needs that they face. Also, this visit served for the participants from these two countries to get good practices of direct participation of citizens in decision-making and the operation of cooperation between citizens and local institutions, civil society and other interest groups.
The visit was carried out within the program “Strengthening the role of civil society to initiate the involvement of citizens in decision-making processes”, supported by Olof Palme International Center and supported by SIDA.
