Civil society debates the budget for the Kosovo Police

Pejë April 11, 2012- Today in the premises of Hotel Dukagjini in Pejë, the non-governmental organization Syri i Vizioni has organized a table to discuss the analysis report “Police Budget of Kosovo – needs for additional budget and planning”. This policy analysis was prepared by the researchers of the Institute for Advanced Studies GAP in the framework of the project “Increasing the engagement of civil society in the improvement of security providers in Kosovo”, carried out by the Forum for Civic Initiatives (FIQ), and financed by NED .
This analysis looks at and analyzes the annual budget of the Kosovo Police, its division into different categories, capital investments, services, salaries and others, analyzing the annual budget in recent years and its management, the operational needs of the police for equipment serious and improvement of general operating conditions, raising capacities and achieving the objectives foreseen in the KP Development Plan.
Kosovo Police officials from the regional station of Peja, and the stations of Istog and Deçan Municipalities, representatives of political parties, municipal officials, representatives of municipal councils for community security, civil society and the media were present at this table. Those present at this table agreed with the data provided by this analysis and asked the central institutions, namely the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to allocate a larger budget for the police and provide the necessary equipment so that the performance of the police is much better. good at performing their duties and responsibilities.
