07 May- In the week of activities dedicated to Europe, the non-governmental organization “Syri i Vizioni” in cooperation with EUPK (EU Perspective in Kosovo), held a debate on the topic “Leaving for Europe”, the purpose of which was Kosovo’s path towards integration in the European Union.
The debate started with the presentation of the documentary film “Beso in what you see”, which presented the work and aid that the European Union has invested in several sectors in Kosovo, such as in the fields of agriculture, public administration, health, tourism, the development of cultural heritage etc.
Those present at this debate were very enthusiastic about the investments that the EU is making in Kosovo through its programs and pledged that more should be done so that Kosovo can benefit much more within the EU’s programs for Kosovo.
Also, those present said that Kosovo needs a lot of work to fulfill the conditions set by the EU to be part of it, even among the participants there were different perceptions about how many years Kosovo needs to integrate into the EU .
They said that Kosovo needs at least a few years to fulfill the basic criteria to be part of the European Union, and they said that there is not much discussion about the conditions and criteria of the EU that are for Kosovo, on the part of the institutions , civil society and the media themselves.
Present in this debate were municipal officials for European integration of the municipalities of the region of Peja, experts on European integration, students from the public university Haxhi Zeka in Peja and the Dukagjini European College, civil society and the media.
