On July 8 and 9, the Eye of Vision organization held monitoring meetings in the field of public procurement. These meetings dealt with the monitoring of public contracts together with the heads of local councils in Rahovec and Gjakovë.

The monitoring meetings were aimed at expanding the knowledge of the heads of local councils in a practical way so that they are able to supervise the public contracts of the projects that are carried out in the localities they represent as well as the execution of the works in the most appropriate way by the companies beneficiaries of these projects.

These meetings are a continuation of the “Public Procurement” training, helping the heads of local councils with practical monitoring of public contracts. Activities like this have influenced the activation of the heads of local councils as well as stimulating the curiosity of institutions for monitoring by citizens, thus increasing cooperation, transparency and accountability.

The beneficiaries of these activities are the heads of local councils from Rahoveci and Gjakova, where the project “Active citizenship and responsible municipalities in Kosovo” is being implemented by the Eye of Vision organization in the municipalities of the regions of Peja and Prizren.

The non-governmental organizations Syri i Vizioni, Communication For Social Development, EC MaNdryshe and Democracy Plus have formed an alliance for the implementation of this program, which is financially supported by the Olof Palme International Center. It aims at the widest possible involvement and participation of citizens in decision-making.
