SEED Phase III supports Career Centers, Kitchen Cabinets and Libraries in various schools in Kosovo

In cooperation with high economic schools from the municipalities of Peja, Gjakova and Prizren, the Eye of Vision organization has recently organized and is continuing to organize the activity entitled “Open Door Days”. This activity aims to familiarize parents, ninth grade students, co-workers, businesses and other interested parties with the schools, their premises, activities, directions as well as the opportunities for employment and career development that they offer.

As part of the SEED Phase III project, which is implemented by the Volkshilfe Solidarity and Eye of Vision organizations with funding from the Austrian Development Agency – ADA, these days three Career Centers, Kitchen Cabinets and Libraries have been promoted in the upper economic high school “Ali Hadri” in the municipality of Peja, “YmerPrizreni” in Prizren and “Kadri Kusari” school in Gjakovë.

Today, on May 31, in the presence of the Mayor of the municipality of Prizren Mytaher Haskuka, the local Directorate of Education, the Ministry of Education and many collaborators of the economic high school of this municipality – “Ymer Prizreni”, the Career Center was inaugurated as and the Kitchen Cabinet in this municipality as well.

In his speech on this occasion, Mayor Haskuka emphasized that the school in question offers directions for professional training of students and that they are areas that are required by local businesses in the municipality that he leads. Haskuka said that with the inauguration of the kitchen cabinet, this school is almost complete with professional cabinets that enable students and teachers to do practical work at school and in the future to be a competitor for the free labor market.

Also, according to him, the Career Center will play an important role in connecting the school with businesses and providing the necessary advice for students to develop their career in the future. On this occasion, he thanks the organization Syri i Vizioni, which, within the framework of the SEED III program, has made possible the inauguration of these spaces.

Meanwhile, Xhemile Thaqi-Vezgishi, Director of Education in the municipality of Prizren, emphasized that the newly inaugurated spaces will be a great support for the students and teachers of this school to develop their skills and abilities, which will have direct impact on the businesses of the municipality of Prizren.

Even Valbona Fatiu-Mjeku, Head of the Division for Education and Vocational Training and Adult Education in the Ministry of Education, pointed out that the investments made in this school are in line with the strategy of the Ministry of Education in Kosovo, which is focused on the establishment of professional laboratories within schools as well as the establishment of Career Centers. According to her, they will play an important role in orienting students towards professions that offer employment opportunities after finishing high school and will link the school with businesses.

Dukagjin Nishiqi, representative of the organization Syri i Vizioni, said that he feels happy with the achievements of the project he leads and the opportunity given to help schools in different municipalities of Kosovo. For this, he thanked the partner, the municipalities with which he had sincere cooperation, as well as the donor.

He estimated that the new spaces inaugurated these days will be an important support which will affect the professional development of both students and teachers of the school. Nishiqi added that the investments made will have an impact on raising the skills of hotel and tourism management students and on the preparation of much-needed professional staff for this sector. In the end, Nishiqi invited all those interested to visit the “Open Days” at the “Ymer Prizreni” school, which will be held from today until June 2, 2021.
