Students of “Ali Hadri” School create a green perimeter for a cleaner environment

Peja, 13 March 2026 – Within the framework of the project “Green Horizons – An initiative for a green transition led by youth and the community in Western Kosovo”, co-funded by the European Union and implemented by CARE Deutschland e.V. – Office in Kosovo, in partnership with the organisation Syri i Vizionit, concrete initiatives are being undertaken to empower young people to engage in environmental protection.

In this context, through the “School of Environmental Activism”, students have taken part in training sessions and workshops focused on environmental activism. Following this, during the call “Youth-Led Local Actions – Community Engagement for Environmental Protection”, they were encouraged to propose concrete ideas and initiatives to improve the environment in their communities.

As a result, students of “Ali Hadri” School designed and implemented the project “Creating a green perimeter around the school yard with cypress trees”. As part of this initiative, a green boundary has been created around the school yard, which not only enhances the school environment aesthetically but also increases safety for students by separating the school premises from surrounding buildings and areas.

The planting of trees is also expected to contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment, improving air quality and expanding green spaces within the school. This initiative has also helped raise awareness among students and the wider school community about the importance of protecting and caring for the environment, while promoting concrete actions that help address climate change challenges.
