Syri i Zoni has started implementing a new project funded by ATRC/USAID. The eight-month project is based on awareness of property and property issues in Kosovo, with a focus on the municipalities of the Peja region. With the name “Love your property”, the project aims to raise citizens’ awareness of the importance of solving property issues, both in the sense of transferring the inheritance to its respective heirs, as well as in relation to the change of owners, associating it with proper documentation, focusing mainly on the lack of awareness and proper legal practices.
The activity of the project will have an impact on informing citizens about the legal procedures of registering property in their name, awareness of the importance of choosing inheritance issues and information on legal procedures, as well as improving communication between institutions: the judiciary and other services. existing in the region of Peja that have a direct impact on the citizen in the legal procedures for inheritance and change of owners.
The project lasts until June 2015 and within it there will be meetings with citizens, representatives of local communities, institutions responsible for the implementation of the law, etc. in which as much information as possible will be distributed regarding the opportunities that citizens have to solve issues of ownership, transferring properties in one’s own name and solving inheritance issues, including the best possible information of women and minority communities.
