01 June- In the framework of International Children’s Day, the non-governmental organization “Syri i Vizioni” in partnership with Save the Children and in cooperation with the Directorate of Administration, namely the coordinator for human rights within this directorate, have established the Children’s Assembly in Mitrovica.

Present at this founding session of the assembly, in addition to the assembly children nominated by the primary and lower secondary schools of this municipality, were also the mayor of the municipality Agim Bahtiri, the chairman of the municipal assembly Bislim Imeri, the director of administration Avdulla Bejtullahu, the director of Education Ajmane Barani , human rights coordinator Fitim Rama as well as directors of several schools.

The mayor of the municipality, in addition to congratulating the work being done by Syri i Vizioni and Save the Children, encouraged the children to present all their concerns and promised that the municipality of Mitrovica and he as mayor will support them in every time. “The municipality and the premises of the municipality will always be at your disposal, whether it is for organizing meetings, presenting complaints and concerns that you have, we will be by your side every time,” he said.

Likewise, the chairman of the municipal assembly and the director of administration and education have pledged to support the children’s assembly in all matters that concern them, especially in respect of their rights and their position in society. They have also ordered the children, in addition to their rights, to remain faithful to the responsibilities and obligations they have, since in addition to rights there are also obligations and responsibilities.

Meanwhile, in this session of the establishment of the assembly, the chairman of the assembly was also elected, by open vote, Irfan Peci, a student of the “Shaban Idrizi” primary and lower secondary school, was elected. The newly elected president has pledged that he and the assembly of children in the municipality of Mitrovica will be the voice of all children, without racial, national or linguistic differences.

At the end of the meeting, the date of the next meeting was determined, where the children’s assembly chairman and the plan of activities for this year will be elected.
