The closing ceremony of the project “Development of innovation and entrepreneurship in the cross-border region of Kosovo and Montenegro” was held, which was implemented by STIKK and Syri i Vizioni with funding from the European Union within the framework of the cross-border cooperation program Kosovo-Montenegro.
Today’s ceremony marked the closing activity of a project that supported young people in their ideas, encouraged innovation and served the development of tourism and the promotion of the region. Participants in the ceremony were representatives from the European Commission – Office in Pristina, Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, officials of the Municipality of Istog and representatives of civil society, media and grant beneficiaries.
Speakers during the ceremony emphasized that such projects help local development and present good models of interstate cooperation and promised to continue to support all young people in their new ideas in terms of tourism development in Istog and the region of Dukagjini.
The representative from the EU office in Kosovo Libor Chlad said that such cross-border cooperation projects are an important means by which the EU helps cross-border regions and serves to overcome the divisions created by borders. “Where we are today has a lot of potential and you can easily use this potential to turn it into opportunities. This project aimed at this”, Chlad said.
The Deputy Mayor of Istog, Lulzim Blakaj, said that the municipality is pleased to have supported a project that was very important for the young people of this municipality, who were given the opportunity to express their innovative ideas, especially in the field of tourism, port and as an opportunity to cooperate with the municipality of Berane in Montenegro.
While the deputy minister of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, Safet Kamberi appreciated the local and national character that gave this project another sustainable dimension of cooperation between the two republics, Kosovo and Montenegro, with the objective of developing entrepreneurship in the cross-border region. . “Taking into account the tourism potential of Istog and the Dukagjin region, I am convinced that these young people will find themselves much more easily in the job market,” said Deputy Minister Safet Kamberi.
The project funded by the European Union, “Development of innovation and entrepreneurship in the cross-border region of Kosovo and Montenegro”, has supported young people to prepare them to contribute to the development of the tourism sector through the use of technology, and at the same time to positively influence the development of the economy. Within the project, the Innovation Houses for Kosovo (in Istog) were established, which created conditions and support for the young people of Istog and beyond, while within the project, regional products/services were promoted and young people were supported. and new businesses with an emphasis on the implementation of technology and innovations in tourism, ideas have been financed and grants have been allocated for innovations and other promotional activities and campaigns.
