Pejë, August 22 – The “Presentation of priorities of local councils” meeting was held, which was organized within the project for strengthening active citizenship in Kosovo.
The purpose of this meeting was the presentation of the priorities of the local councils and the inclusion of these priorities in the work plans or priorities of the municipality for 2016 and 2017.
In this meeting, in addition to the presentation and discussion on the priorities of the local councils, it was also discussed about the way of selection of priorities by the municipality, about the possibility of paying the heads of the local councils, which is a concern for the representatives of the community and the municipality itself, since the Ministry of Finances, there is no legal scope for payments of commissions, working groups or heads of local councils as representatives chosen by the municipality itself.
During the meeting, all the participants appreciated the work of the Eye of Vision organization in empowering and supporting the heads of local councils and activating citizens to be closer to the institutions with their requests and complaints.
Participants in the meeting were the chairmen of the local councils, the vice-chairman of the Municipality of Peja and some of the directors who were more directly responsible for the priority of the community.
The meeting was organized within the framework of the “Active Citizenship” project, which aims to develop active citizenship in Kosovo, which has been taking place for several years in the region of Peja and Prizren by the NGO “Syri i Vizionit” supported by the organization Olof Palm International Center.
