Ferizaj, October 3 – The non-governmental organization “Syri i Vizioni” continues holding workshops with the councils of primary and lower secondary schools on the Protocol for the prevention and referral of violence in pre-university education institutions. To familiarize with this protocol, a working meeting was held with the management council of the elementary and lower secondary school “Tefik Çanga” in Ferizaj.
Representatives from the management council of this school have welcomed the protocol and requested that this document be implemented and not remain only in the drawers of the government and municipalities, even of the schools themselves. They have pledged that they will demand responsibility from all the institutions required by this protocol to prevent violence in schools, thus creating a much more humane and safer environment for the children attending this school and other schools in the municipality of Ferizaj.

The protocol defines the obligations, clarifies the roles and procedures of institutions for the prevention, identification, data collection, referral, treatment, reporting of violence against children in pre-university education institutions. According to the participants, it also strengthens inter-institutional and multidisciplinary cooperation to protect the rights of the child and to protect children from violence in pre-university institutions.
The training with the governing council of this school was held in the framework of the “Together 4 children rights- Child Protection” program, in partnership with the organization Save the Children. The project aims to develop a system for monitoring and reporting violence against children, creating favorable policies for improving the protection of children in Kosovo that are in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child and EU standards.

This project is being implemented in ten primary and lower secondary schools in five municipalities of Kosovo: in Pristina, Pejë, Gjakovë, Ferizaj and Mitrovica. The beneficiaries of this project are the students, their parents and the teachers of these schools as well as the institutions responsible for the protection and respect of children’s rights.
