The organization “Syri i Vizionit” from Peja, in cooperation with the resource center for learning and counseling “Xheladin Deda” in Peja, held the concert “White Sounds” dedicated to the blind community in Kosovo. Within the framework of the International Awareness Week for people with a white cane, the program was concluded with performances by students and former students of the only school for the blind in Kosovo. The special thing has been that for the first time in a concert, the musical points of singing, instrumentals and choral points are performed by the blind and visually impaired people themselves, which has made the show in the “Istref Begolli” theater more special.
“This is happening for the first time in our country. The international week of the man with a white stick is intended to remind us that we should offer them a little help, so that they can express themselves”, said the director of CBMK, Xhavit Kastrati.
“They don’t see, but they feel the music, the notes and the melody. We have brought them to this program to prove that we can all succeed, but we just need a little help”, says Naser Lajçi from the NGO Syri i Vizioni, which organized this concert. The activity is held within the Culture for all program of the European Commission, which is implemented in Kosovo by InterArts.
In the program, students and former students performed songs, instrumental pieces on the piano and some choral pieces. The program aimed to encourage blind and visually impaired people to engage in creativity, specifically in the field of music.
