Children for children’s budgeting in the municipality of Ferizaj

Ferizaj, August 2- Part of the annual program of the children’s group for monitoring – ROR (Respect Our Rights) is also the participation in the allocation of the budget in the municipalities and the presentation of the children’s requests. On this occasion, the representative of the ROR group Alma Gashi participated in the public hearing in her municipality.
The mayor of Ferizaj expressed his surprise at the participation of this group, because it was the first time in his career that young people under the age of 18 took part in a public hearing. After the presentation of the plan and budget by the mayor, the ROR member had some requests. She requested that public schools provide access for children with disabilities, based on the fact that no school in Ferizaj has offered this opportunity so far.

Then, he asked that the number of students in high schools not be too high, because the efficiency of teaching is decreasing, and consequently the cadres after a few years will be weaker. As an alternative to this problem, he proposed to admit more students to vocational schools. This means undertaking any promotion campaign for vocational schools.

The chairman, Agim Aliu, answered that the solution to the first problem was the engagement of adequate personnel in schools, which will be included in the budget. As for the second problem, the mayor said that he has already made changes in the number of students in the gymnasium, assigning 28 students per class.

Among other things, he also mentioned other changes that he intends to make in education, where he also promised that education and children will always be the priority of this government and during the allocation of the budget.

The meeting ended after many proposals, and hoping that children will not be overlooked this time in the budgeting, which is one of the commitments of the ROR Group, created by Syri i Vizioni with the support of Save the Children, which has been monitoring for years implementation of children’s rights in Kosovo.
