Activities throughout Kosovo for June 1, Children’s Day

Pejë, June 1 – The non-governmental organization Syri i Vizioni from Pejë, in partnership with the organization Save the Children and in cooperation with the children’s coordinators in the municipalities, marked June 1, the International Children’s Day.
The activities took place in the municipalities of Pejë, Prishtina, Gjakovë, Ferizaj, Gjilan and Klinë.
In the municipalities of Peja and Gjakova, public debates were held between children and the mayors of the municipalities, in which the children asked them that the municipality and the mayors themselves should do more to create better conditions for them in schools, more security large in cities and more sports and recreational spaces.
While the mayors of Pejë and Gjakovë municipalities, Mimoza Kusari-Lila and Gazmend Muhaxheri, have promised the children that they will do more for them and since they are the present and future of the country for whom the institutions should do much more.
While in other municipalities such as in Klina, Pristina, Ferizaj and Gjilan, the children of the children’s assemblies and the monitoring group of children Respect Our Right (ROR), have developed various activities in the city centers expressing their wishes and conveying a clear message to the institutions that should do much more for them and they should be participants in the drafting of policies when their interests and lives are affected.
The representatives of the ROR group, together with the Prishtina Children’s Assembly, also visited the Assembly of Kosovo, where they also presented their activities and called for more commitment for children in Kosovo.
At the end of the activities, the works and messages that were made by the participating children were addressed to the municipal institutions through the coordinators for children’s rights and the chairpersons of the children’s assemblies.
This daily campaign was aimed at raising the awareness of the institutions that they should do much more for children by creating a better life and well-being for them and comfortable and safe environments so that the children of Kosovo can be and feel equal as their peers. theirs in other countries.
This day is marked within the program of children’s rights and their participation in decision-making, which Eye of Vision and Save the Children are implementing in the municipalities of Pristina, Peja, Gjakova, Klina, Ferizaj, Gjilan and Mitrovica.
As part of the “Prospect Plus” project, which is developed in partnership with KFOS and supported by the German Government, an intercultural fun activity has been developed with the children of the Roma and Egyptian community in the neighborhood “7 September” and Vitomirica in Peja.
On this day, Syri i Zonis also helped the Azem Shkreli library in Peja with materials and work tools for children in marking this date.
