In the primary and lower secondary schools of the largest municipalities of Kosovo, Syri i Vizioni and Save the Children are implementing the program for the protection of children, which aims to strengthen the mechanisms within the school for the protection of children and create a comfortable environment and safe for them.
In 14 elementary and lower secondary schools in seven municipalities, commissions are being created for the administration and functioning of complaint boxes by decision of the school management councils and at the suggestion of Syri i Vizioni and Save the Children and school directors.
The composition of the commission will be comprehensive: two teachers, one of whom is chosen by the teachers themselves and the other by the students; two children who are elected by the student council and two parents who are also elected by the parent council.
This committee will open the complaints box every month and present the results from the box to the management council through a written report, while the school management council will have the responsibility for taking actions against the results from the box. The commission is also responsible for making a public announcement for the children and school staff, so that they have information regarding the content and handling of complaints that may have been found in this box.
Thus, this commission will increase the children’s credibility in this mechanism to address all concerns or problems, but at the same time, the children will have the opportunity to express praise and good initiatives undertaken by the staff through this box. pedagogy, technical staff, the children themselves but also the parents.
Thus, this box will serve the school as another additional mechanism of a more specific communication between the children and the school, in addressing many issues that the children do not want or do not have the courage to ask directly to the classroom teacher, the psychologist or the teacher and the school director.
So far, such committees have been created in the primary and lower secondary schools “Ibrahim Fehmiu” and “Haziz Tola” in Prizren, “Ramiz Sadiku” in Pejë, “Andon Zako Çajupi” and “Bedri Gjinaj” in Mitrovica, “Mustafa Bakija” in Gjakovë, “Jeronim De Rada” and “Tefik Çanga” in Ferizaj.
While such commissions are also being created in other schools such as “Xhemail Kada” in Pejë, “Zekeria Rexha” in Gjakovë, “Ismail Qemali” and “Naim Frasheri” in Prishtina, as well as in “Thimi Mitko” and “Selami” schools Hallaqi” in Gjilan.
