January 8, 2011: A group of civil society organizations has expressed their concern regarding the hate-inciting statements of the representative of the Association of Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army against public figures, specifically a political leader (Albin Kurtin) in recent days. and recently the journalist Halil Matoshi.
“Accusing without any facts and smearing critical voices in Kosovo society, whether they are journalists or politicians, the people who speak on behalf of KLA veterans damage any public debate, and at the same time, damage the very project for the liberation of Kosovo as well as the image of our country”, the communiqué states, criticizing the language of threats, asking not to take credit for the liberation of Kosovo and calling on the mission of the European Union to engage persistently in the protection of free speech, which is prerequisite for further democratization of society. The communiqué was signed by nine NGOs, including Eye of Vision.
