Pejë, Gjakovë, February 07 – Follow-up sessions were held with focus groups of parents of primary and lower secondary schools “Zekeria Rexha” and “Yll Morina” in Gjakovë and “Ramiz Sadiku” in Pejë, which were previously trained in positive discipline in everyday parenting. This session is part of the monitoring and evaluation to see and measure the changes and attitude of the parents after three months of having undergone the positive discipline training.
Parents have expressed themselves very satisfied with the knowledge they have gained from positive discipline and the changes they have started to practice with their children, as according to them this new approach to working with children is much better and more acceptable for children and themselves, than the methodology they used earlier.
Some of the parents have shared their experiences with the children’s reactions to their changes in communication or relationship with them, even according to them, this has influenced their vocabulary and actions as parents to be much different than before . Even in the conversations that other parents had, they shared the knowledge gained through this training and encouraged the desire of other parents to be part of trainings or sessions with new groups of parents.
Positive Discipline is an approach to education that guides the child’s behavior while respecting their right to a safe environment, protection from violence and participation in their education.
Training for positive discipline in daily parenting will be carried out again this year and in the following years with parents in various municipalities and schools within the framework of the program “Our Obligation to the Future – Protection of Children and Governance of Children’s Rights” implemented from Syri i Vizioni in partnership with Save the Children office in Kosovo.
