June 15 – The Children’s Assembly was established in the municipality of Pristina by the NGO Syri i Vizioni in partnership with Save the Children and in cooperation with the Directorate of Education and the Human Rights Unit in this municipality.
The constitutive session of the children’s assembly was also held, where a presentation was made of the work and role of the human rights unit, namely the coordinator for children’s rights, the presentation of the work and the role of partners Save the Children and Syri i The vision as well as the program that these two organizations will realize in cooperation with the municipal institutions, which aims to functionalize and strengthen the Children’s Assembly in this municipality.
Also, during this meeting, the representatives of the human rights unit in the municipality of Pristina expressed their readiness for continuous support for the children’s assembly in all matters that concern them, especially in respect of their rights and their position. in society. The representatives of this unit have asked the assembly children that, in addition to their rights, they should remain faithful to their responsibilities and obligations, since in addition to their rights, they have obligations and responsibilities, wherever they are and whatever they do.
In this constitutive session of the establishment of the assembly, the election of the president of the assembly was made by open vote, where the assembly members selected Trina Hoti from Sh.F.M.U “Naim Frashëri”. The newly elected president has pledged that she and the children’s assembly in the municipality of Pristina will be the voice of all children, regardless of race, nationality or language.
Likewise, such assemblies have been re-established in the municipalities of Mitrovica and Ferizaj as well as that of Gjilan, the program for the empowerment of the children’s assembly aims to empower children through the assemblies thus influencing children to be participants in decision-making and their voice to be heard . Eye of Vision in partnership with Save the Children will support children’s assemblies in seven municipalities such as Pejë, Gjakovë, Prizren, Gjilan, Ferizaj, Mitrovica and Prishtina.
