Gjilan, Prizren, April 26- Eye of Vision within the thematic program in the field of child protection and governance with children’s rights “Our Obligation to the Future – Protection of Children and Governance of Children’s Rights” which is now being implemented for several years, in partnership with Save the Children, the office in Kosovo has held one-day workshops with the commission for opening complaint boxes in elementary and lower secondary schools “Selami Hallaqi” and “Thimi Mitko” in Gjilan and “Ibrahim Fehmiu” and “Haziz Tolaj” in Prizren.
In addition to the members of the committee for opening the complaints box, the heads of the management councils and the directors of these schools also participated in these workshops. The purpose of these workshops was to raise the professional capacities of the commission for opening complaint boxes, handling and addressing issues from the box in a more professional manner, and increasing the credibility of the box among students, parents, pedagogical and technical staff.
School principals have shown about the improvements that have been made in their schools regarding the increase in cleanliness, discipline and the elimination of some behaviors not acceptable for the school either by the teachers, technical workers, the students themselves and in some cases even the parents.
While the members of the committee for opening the box have shown about the challenges, the achievements they have had during this new school year 2017/2018, where according to them schools have had a lot of need in re-functionalizing the box and structuring the council for opening the box .
All participants appreciated that thanks to the box it was possible to identify and prevent many phenomena, behaviors and expressions that do not coincide with the school, and there was a decrease in complaints thanks to the actions taken by the governing council and the school director after receiving the report from commission for opening the box.
However, in addition to complaints, there were also requests, proposals and praises for the school and school management from the children and students and in some cases from their parents.
The complaint box is already seen in these schools as a friendly mechanism for communication between students, parents, teachers and others with the school management and this has been achieved thanks to the promotional campaign that was made by the commission for opening the complaint box in cooperation with the council principals, school principals and classroom guardians and classroom teachers.
Also, the participants in this workshop thanked for the work and commitment of the organizations Syri i Vizioni and Save the Children, offices in Kosovo, and requested and suggested that such a working methodology in this case with the complaint box should be extended to other schools as well. .
Such workshops will also be held in the municipality of Peja, Gjakova and Klina.
