March 21, 2013- The non-governmental organization Syri i Vizioni held a meeting with the residents of the village of Zllopek in the municipality of Peja, where they discussed the problems faced by the community of this village.
In this meeting, the residents of this village expressed their disappointment in the work of the institutions, which have done very little to improve the economic, social and infrastructural conditions in their village.
A disturbing problem that endangers the lives of residents every day is the damage to the electricity network, where since October of last year (2012) until now, despite numerous requests to KEK and the Municipality, this problem has not yet been rectified and today, power grid wires stand at a distance of 1.8 or 2 meters above the ground.
They have expressed concern that in the event of any resident of this village or students who every day have to pass through this area where their lives are endangered by power lines, someone should be held responsible.
But this is not the only problem faced by the inhabitants of the village of Zllopek, the permanent problem remains the lack of drinking water where the only source they have is the use of wells, even though it is non-drinkable they are forced to use it for drinking. The road that connects the village school and some houses with the main road that leads to Baran remains a problem, as it becomes impassable for students and residents during heavy rains.
Another concern presented by these residents is the river bridge that divides the village into two parts, which has suffered damage and is in danger of collapsing due to the passage of heavy machinery, such as the agricultural machines owned by the residents of this village that have to pass through this bridge to reach their properties.
Within the “Civic Activation” project, Syri i Vizioni supports local communities in addressing requests to those responsible for their implementation.
