The governing councils of the “Zekeria Rexha” and “Mustafa Bakija” schools are notified of the protocol for the prevention and addressing of violence

Gjakovë, May 22 – The non-governmental organization “Syri i Vizioni” continues holding workshops with the councils of primary and lower secondary schools on the Protocol for the prevention and referral of violence in pre-university education institutions. Such training was also held by the management councils in two schools “Zekeria Rexha” and “Mustafa Bakija” in the municipality of Gjakova.

In this training, the presentation of this Protocol was made, which was drafted by the Office for Good Governance, Human Rights, Equal Opportunities and Non-discrimination of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo. This protocol defines the obligations, clarifies the roles and procedures of institutions for the prevention, identification, data collection, referral, treatment, reporting of violence against children in pre-university education institutions.
It also strengthens inter-institutional and multidisciplinary cooperation to protect the rights of the child and to protect children from violence in pre-university institutions.
The training with the governing council of these two schools was held in the framework of the “Together 4 children rights – Child Protection” program, in partnership with the Save the Children Organization. The project aims to develop a system for monitoring and reporting violence against children, creating favorable policies for improving the protection of children in Kosovo that are in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child and EU standards.

This project is being implemented in ten primary and lower secondary schools in five municipalities of Kosovo: in Pristina, Pejë, Gjakovë, Ferizaj and Mitrovica. The beneficiaries of this project are the students, their parents and the teachers of these schools as well as the institutions responsible for the protection and respect of children’s rights.
