Pejë, December 20, 2018 – The Eye of Vision organization held a media conference today in Pejë, in which the work and role of the Liaison Office for assistance to citizens and various interest groups, which operates within the Active Citizenship program, was presented. six years now.
The liaison office for the provision of various assistance and advice, which was opened within the “Active Citizenship” project, is playing an important role not only in empowering citizens, but also the civil society organizations that operate in the Peja region. and beyond.
Part of the work of this office are complaints, requests and project ideas that come from different citizens and other groups to be addressed to local and central institutions.
Arbresha Demaj, project manager, said: “During this year alone, this office has helped to compile approximately 100 requests, 50 complaints and dozens of project proposals for citizens and local councils, which they have addressed to institutions at the local and central level “.
“During this year within the municipality, it has been achieved that in cooperation with the chairman of the municipal assembly, the director of the administration and the mayor of the municipality, a person will be appointed who will wait for the citizens to address the requests, complaints and various issues in the municipality by addressed correctly and on time to the relevant directorates and engaging in the return of answers”, added Demaj.
In some cases, during this year we have supported some requests of citizens with financial means, including the municipalities in the realization and support of these requests,” she continued.
It is also thought that such an office will be opened in the following years in the municipalities of Rahovec, Deçan, Klinë and Istog, as the role and office that has been within the SiV over the years has been seen as a very good help for the citizens, and that already it is also being tested in the municipality of Peja.
Besnike Bytyqi, responsible in the assistance office for citizens within the municipality of Peja, which has been operationalized in cooperation with the organization Syri i Vizioni and which is at the service of all citizens and different groups throughout Kosovo, said.
Since the operationalization of this office until today, which is now a six-month period, in cooperation with the Eye of Vision organization, it has been possible to create a form of request in order to facilitate the access of citizens and address their requests.
During this six-month period, 80 different requests were received, such as: requests for financial assistance, requests for work practice from university students and others. The parties have been helped in compiling requests in an official, clear and concrete form and in addressing them to the appropriate directorates or addresses, as well as in returning answers to all those citizens who have addressed requests to the institutions. Therefore, of all the requests addressed, 80% of them have been accepted and some have been rejected.
This office has existed for six years now as part of the “Active Citizenship” program, which is implemented by Eye of Vision supported by Olof Plame International Center.
