A new business led by a woman from the village of Lubeniq was added to the market of beekeeping, honey production and processing in Peja. Her business “Bletaria Maja” will deal with the production of eco-honey, bee milk and the processing of propolis, thus offering 100% natural quality products from the rich fields of the village where she comes from and the mountainous areas of Rugova.

“As a beekeeper, now with a new business, I want to thank the organization Syri i Vizioni, which with its grants together with the organization The Balkan Forum and the Municipality of Istog and the support of EU funds, not only they enabled me to open this business, but they also provided me with professional and much needed tools for the production and processing of honey and other products,” said Vjollca Alimehaj, owner of this business.

“With the new equipment, new products will also be launched on the market, such as bee milk, propolis and the processing of many other wax products. At the same time, I will increase the capacity of the beehives, therefore I will also increase the seasonal employment opportunities for women and girls from my area,” she added.

The opening of this business by a woman who lives in Lubenic will be an example of success and an incentive for other women from rural areas.

The business for the production of eco-honey “Bletaria Maja” was established through the component of grants for start-up enterprises, within the program “Empowerment and employment of young people, women and other groups in need in five municipalities of Kosovo” supported by the funds of the European Union which is implemented by Eye of Vision in partnership with the organization The Balkan Forum as well as the Municipality of Istog, in the municipalities of Pejë, Klinë, Deçan, Junik and Istog.
