Eye of Vision leads the campaign for the liberalization of visas in the municipalities of the Peja region

Pejë, July 09 – The eye of the vision as part of the initiative launched by the Kosovo Foundation for Open Society and its civil society partners, is attached to the visa liberalization campaign started in April this year, with the letter sent to the Representative of High of the European Union, Federica Mogherini, Commissioner Johannes Hahn and Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos.
With this campaign, civil society organizations address the authorities of the European Union and the Government of Kosovo. The campaign includes the placement of posters at the airport of Pristina as well as on social media, a documentary film that will be ready in August of this year, as well as a citizen’s petition addressed to the main actors of the isolation of the country, the European Union and the Government of Kosovo.
Syri i Vizioni will be responsible for the smooth running of the campaign in the region of Peja, which includes the signing of the petition by citizens in the five municipalities of the region, the distribution of promotional materials, the media campaign at the local level and coordination with citizens and local actors.
One of the activities of this campaign is to address through the mail with postcards the representative of the EU office in Kosovo, Samuel Zhbogar and the Minister for European Integration Bekim Çollaku, on behalf of the citizens, who will write their messages and requests in relation to the need of legalization of visas for Kosovo.

The text of the petition, which is expected to be signed by the citizens, will be this:
“We, the citizens signed in this petition, are convinced that the isolation of Kosovo, imposed with Shenghen visas, has already begun to negatively affect all movements in society, and leave irreversible marks on the development processes that so much The restriction of free movement of European countries within Europe is a paradox of the times, especially today, when globalization has encompassed every sphere of life, and makes normal development impossible when there is no freedom of movement.
We ask the authorities of the European Union, as well as the Government of Kosovo, to create the conditions for the liberalization of visas for the citizens of Kosovo as soon as possible. The EU should treat us as it has treated other countries in the region, while our governors should meet the established criteria with more will and determination.
If we want more economic development, quality education, public health, cultural and sports exchange, and especially if we want fewer Kosovars who want to migrate, then we are convinced that Schengen visas should be liberalized as soon as possible!\”

The signing of the petition in the region of Peja will be organized by the Eye of the Vision through mobile teams and at the tables that will be placed in the centers of the cities of Peja, Istog, Klinë, Deçan and Junik, starting from July 14, 2015.
We expect commitment and awareness from all citizens and invite them to be as active as possible in writing postcards and to increase the number of signatures on this petition as much as possible.
