Citizens actively helping citizens in need to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic!

April 2020 – For several years in a row, Syri i Vizioni has been working on the “Active Citizenship” program, which even today is clearly proving the importance of the active citizen.

In the situation created by the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone is trying to contribute to overcoming this situation by being responsible citizens and staying in their homes.

The local councils in the municipalities of Pejë, Deçan and Rahovec are doing a very good job to help the citizens they represent and those who are expressing their need for help.

The heads of local councils, together with the members of these councils, are playing an important role in supporting their fellow citizens in the first place, in addressing requests and needs, cooperating with local institutions in identifying families and individuals coming from other countries. outside Kosovo, respectively compatriots.

In addition, they are also managing to identify families in need in their residences (villages and neighborhoods) to support them with food and hygiene packages, simultaneously increasing citizens’ awareness of the risk from COVID-19, respecting the established measures for the prevention of this pandemic as well as cooperation with the Kosovo Police, Family Medicine Centers and the emergency headquarters at the municipal level.

The “Active Citizenship” project aims at exactly this – the genuine activation of citizens. It is being realized by this organization with invaluable financial support from the Olof Palme International Center and SIDA.
