Gjakovë March 26- The regional director of Save the Children, Mrs. Irina Saghoyan, visited the primary and lower secondary school “Zekeria Rexha” in Gjakovë, to inform about the work done by the NGO Syri I Vizionit and Save the Children office in Kosovo, within the program “Together for rights of children”.
During this visit, she also met with representatives of the NGO Syri i Vizioni, where she was informed about the work that has been done and continues to be done for three years in the creation and strengthening of mechanisms inside and outside the school to protect children from violence and other phenomena by thus creating a safe environment at school.
Also, the director of this school, Yllka Juniku Shehu, has announced the achievements that the school has made in increasing the safety of children at school and their involvement in decision-making, according to her, this has been achieved thanks to the work and support provided by the NGO Syri I Vizionit and Save the Children.
Likewise, the students who have been part of the various activities and the teachers have appreciated the work that has been done in this school as according to them the mechanisms created in the school such as the code of conduct, the complaint box and the functioning of the school’s management council have succeeded in to empower children to address the concerns they have. At the same time, they have raised the awareness of the children and the teachers themselves about the rights and responsibilities or obligations they have towards the school and towards each other.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Irina Saghoyan, regional director of Save the Children, has expressed her satisfaction with the work and the achievements that have been made, but has encouraged the school to continue in the further development and strengthening of the mechanisms that have been created in the school.
On the other hand, he also congratulated the NGO Syri i Vizioni for the work done, promising that the cooperation and partnership with Save the Children will continue.
