Pejë- November 9, 2012- The public meeting was held to discuss the National Strategy and Action Plan for the Control and Collection of Small Arms and Light Weapons in the Republic of Kosovo.

The purpose of this meeting was for the process of strategy review to be transparent, comprehensive, where participants are the various social groups, NGOs and institutions at the local level, to be offered the opportunity to express their views on the draft strategy. reviewed and other issues related to weapons, both locally and nationally, and the recommendations, concerns and needs of citizens to be considered during the review of the strategy.
Present at this meeting were representatives of the municipalities of Pejë, Deçan and Istog, from the Municipality, the Police, the Courts as well as civil society, the media and active citizens who express their concern about not implementing the earlier strategy and laws to have a safer environment and to have a control over illegal weapons possessed by citizens who pose a danger to society in general.

The public strategy meeting organized by the NGO “Syri i Vizioni” is part of the activities of the campaign with the motto “Time for Action”, which is taking place in all municipalities of Kosovo and will continue throughout the month of November by FIQ and Saferworld, together with partner organizations in the municipalities of Kosovo.
