Worker at Xhemail Kada school on the protocol for preventing and addressing school violence

Pejë, May 14 – The non-governmental organization “Syri i Vizioni” held a workshop with the management council of the primary and lower secondary school “Xhemail Kada” in Pejë, where representatives from the Directorate of Education were also present, to be informed about Protocol for the prevention and referral of violence in pre-university education institutions.

In this meeting, the Protocol was presented, which was drafted by the Office for Good Governance, Human Rights, Equal Opportunities and Non-discrimination of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo. This protocol defines the obligations, clarifies the roles and procedures of institutions for the prevention, identification, data collection, referral, treatment, reporting of violence against children in pre-university education institutions. It also strengthens inter-institutional and multidisciplinary cooperation to protect children’s rights and protect children from violence
The workshop with the management council of the school “Xhemail Kada” was organized within the program “Together 4 children rights – Child Protection”, in partnership with the Save the Children Organization. In order to develop a system for monitoring and reporting violence against children, creating favorable policies for improving the protection of children in Kosovo that are in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child and EU standards.

This project is being implemented in ten primary and lower secondary schools in five municipalities of Kosovo: in Pristina, Pejë, Gjakovë, Ferizaj and Mitrovica. The beneficiaries of this project are the students, their parents and the teachers of these schools as well as the institutions responsible for the protection and respect of children’s rights.
