Pejë, Istog, Klinë, Deçan and Rahovec, October 2016 – The non-governmental organization Syri i Vizioni within the “Active Citizen” project supports and empowers formal and non-formal groups of women through the realization of these women’s own initiatives in five municipalities of Pejë, Istog, Klinë, Deçan and Rahovec, where the project is being implemented.
The ideas for the implementation of the initiatives have come from the women’s groups themselves, and are oriented towards “Inheritance and Common Property”, seeing it as a mechanism for strengthening the position of women in society.
The purpose of these initiatives is to inform, raise awareness and sensitize groups of women, men and young people in rural and urban areas, about the law of inheritance and administrative guidance for common property. In order to inform the target group, meetings and campaigns are being held to promote the values ​​of gender equality in society, as well as discussing procedures and rules for inheritance, common property and existing legal mechanisms. Holding meetings with the institutions responsible for this field to address the concerns arising from the group meetings and the discussion on the inclusion of women in common inheritance and property.
Also, in order to achieve the goal of the campaign for the promotion and awareness of gender equality in society, brochures with information on women’s right to property and inheritance were printed, radio debates were held with key actors in this field to inform as much as possible the opinion of wide.
The “Active Citizenship” project aims to activate citizens, and has been implemented for five years now by the “Syri i Vizioni” organization, financially supported by the Olof Palme International Center and SIDA.
