Kosovo-Serbia-Albania study visit to Vlora on the role of citizens in decision-making

The third study visit was carried out in order to exchange experiences and good practices, within the program for increasing the participation of citizens in decision-making, promoting active citizenship in the region. During the study visit to Vlora, representatives of partner organizations from Serbia and Kosovo, representatives of citizens’ groups participated, while the host was the organization “Vlora Youth Center”, with representatives of the councils, representatives of local institutions together with the mayor and the vice mayor, also representatives of women’s groups in Orikum. For three days in a row, representatives from Serbia and Kosovo have held joint meetings and conversations with these groups and representatives to see closely how the citizens engage in fulfilling their demands and needs that they face. Also, this visit served for the participants from these two countries to get good practices of cooperation between citizens and local institutions, civil society and other interest groups.

While in the meeting with the Mayor of Vlora, apart from the fact that we had a presentation from the three countries Kosovo, Serbia and Albania, the representatives of the municipal institutions of the Municipality of Peja invited the two parties from Albania and Serbia to visit participate in the elections for the presidents of the local councils in the municipality of Peja, which will begin in October.

The visit was carried out within the program “Strengthening the role of civil society to initiate the involvement of citizens in decision-making processes”, supported by Olof Palme International Center and supported by SIDA.
