The perpetrators demand a special law for the protection of children’s rights

Those present at this round table requested that Kosovo should have a basic law for the protection of children’s rights, since for now many laws deal with the protection of children in certain articles, but apparently they are not showing an effect in improving the position of children and especially in their protection and respect for the rights that belong to the country’s constitution and the international convention on children’s rights.
Also, they have asked to look into the possibility of completing the law on pre-university education, which foresees the punishment of parents who stop their children from school, where there should be very strict punishments for them, since day by day in this municipality it is increasing the abandonment of schooling not only by the children of the Roma, Egyptian and Ashkali communities but also of the Albanian community.

In fact, they have been critical themselves, saying that each institution should be more responsible in its work and responsibly fulfill the obligations defined by law and other by-laws.
Even at this table, it was assessed that schools need the presence of psychologists and pedagogues, which would affect the treatment of children with anti-social behavior, reducing cases of violence and other phenomena that appear every day in schools.
At the end of the table, recommendations were issued that relate to the needs of supplementing and amending some laws, as well as the need to issue a special law for the protection of children’s rights
Present at this table were representatives of the institutions in the municipality of Gjakova, which mandate the protection of children, representatives of civil society and local media, such tables will be held in four other municipalities as in Mitrovica, Ferizaj and Pristina.
