Prishtina, December 6- In Pristina, the national conference “Organization and Functioning of Local Councils at the Municipality Level” was held, this conference organized by Syri i Vizioni in cooperation with the Minister of Administration and Local Government.

The purpose of the joint conference was to get to know the challenges and achievements in the organization of local councils in the various municipalities of Kosovo, with the institutions responsible for the completion of legislation such as municipal regulations and their implementation in practice, and the coordination of the actions of the institutions of local and central level.

Present at this conference were representatives from the Ministry of Local Government Administration, the Ministry of Finance, the Agency for Gender Equality, the Association of Municipalities of Kosovo, Chairpersons of Municipal Assemblies, Directors of Administrations, Offices for Gender Equality from the municipalities of Pejë, Klinë, Rahovec , Deçan and Istog, civil society organizations, several heads of councils from these municipalities and the media.

The conference was held within the framework of the “Active Citizenship” program, which has been implemented for several years by the NGO “Syri i Vizioni” with support from the Olof Palme International Center and SIDA and is focused on the municipalities of the regions of Peja and Prizren.
