Pejë, October 23, 2012- The Non-Governmental Organization Syri i Vizioni in cooperation with the KDI Democratic Institute, within the Democracy in Action NGO network, held a public debate with the students of the “Haxhi Zeka” Public University, about the importance of the participation of young people in elections and the importance of their vote. In this debate, in addition to the representatives of Syri Vizioni, the chairman of the Communal Electoral Communicate (MCC), Abdurrahim Haxhisefa, participated, where the students were informed about the electoral process, the reforms that are being made, and the importance of their participation in voting in the upcoming elections. will be held next year.
The students have assessed that their non-participation in the elections is a consequence of the lack of cadres brought by the political parties, as well as their programs that have already been used up since, according to them, they always have the same program and promises. They have also said that the manipulations and theft of votes that have occurred have made them have another additional reason for not voting, accusing the justice institutions of not having imposed the appropriate punishments and there is no information on how many people are convicted of stealing votes or damaging the electoral process.
The public debate with students is part of the “Take Part” campaign, which is being carried out by the Democratic Institute of Kosovo in cooperation with partner organizations from Democracy in Action across the regions of Kosovo that are part of the NGO network, and has been supported from IFES and USAID-
