Citizens become aware of the need to register property and transfer inheritance

Peja, April 24- Property issues, the regulation of inheritance, the follow-up of documentation in sales and purchases, and other problems related to property, were discussed in the debate held with the citizens of Peja. in the hall of the Municipal Assembly of Peja, they expressed their interest in the legislation, and asked their questions to the representatives of the institutions that deal with ownership issues. Officials from the municipality of Peja, cadastre and property issues, civil office and the Department of Urban Planning, the Basic Court of Peja, OSCE, mediation service and free legal service, have informed the citizens about the laws, procedures and opportunities offered to them in the regulation of property issues. ownership, so that problems are not passed from generation to generation, as in the past.
Citizens’ questions are mainly focused on the treatment of properties purchased without documentation from the 70s and earlier of the last century, disputes related to ownership, methods of property registration, legalization and other problems that have received answers from the relevant officials.
The debate with the citizens of Peja is the last of the debates with citizens that have been held during the last months in the municipalities of Peja, Klinë, Deçan and Istog, first with the heads of local communities, and then with the community. The project “Protect your property” is financed by USIAD/ATRC and aims to sensitize citizens in relation to property, solve inheritance issues and raise awareness of the need for sales and purchases based on relevant documentation. The findings so far during the realism of the project will be analyzed in round tables with all actors, in the four municipalities of the region during the months of May and June, to come up with the relevant recommendations for the institutions.
