Draft municipal regulations for the complaint box in pre-university institutions are drawn up

November 25-27, Bogë-Pejë: The non-governmental organization Syri i Vizioni in partnership with Save the Children in Kosovo, as well as in cooperation with the Directorates of Education from the municipalities of Gjilan and Klina, have drawn up draft municipal regulations for the complaint box in pre-university institutions in these two municipalities.

This regulation aims to strengthen the protective mechanisms of students by addressing concerns or complaints, as well as creating a friendly and safe environment for them in pre-university education institutions in these two municipalities.

With the provisions of this regulation, it is determined: the placement of the boxes, the formation of the commission for opening the complaint boxes, the acceptance of suggestions, recommendations and comments related to the addressing of issues in pre-university education institutions based on the legal regulations in force.

After the approval of this regulation, the institutions of pre-university education in these two municipalities must handle complaints with understanding and competence and provide answers within a time limit set by this regulation. Complaints, requests, criticisms and other issues that are addressed through the box will help these educational institutions to improve.

The working groups created by the DKAs in Klina and Gjilan, composed of the Directorate of Education, the Legal Office, representatives of parents, schools and the Kosovo Police participated in the drafting of the draft regulations.

These draft regulations are expected to be processed by the DKA before the new year for the submission of appropriate procedures for approval by the Municipal Assemblies and it is believed that they will enter into force before the end of the 2019/2020 school year.

NGO Syri i Vizioni in partnership with Save the Children in Kosovo will help these two municipalities not only until their approval, but also in implementation, thus creating comfortable, friendly and safe environments for children in schools. All this work is done within the project “Together for children’s rights”, which has been implemented for several years now in the municipalities of Pejë, Klinë, Gjakovë, Prizren, Prishtina, Mitrovica, Gjilan and Ferizaj.
